Give people room to change

Don't freeze them in an old snapshot.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." — Carl Rogers, On Becoming a Person

You know that feeling when someone still treats you like the person you were five years ago?

It's suffocating. And I do it to others without noticing.

I file people under one moment — a bad meeting, a dropped ball — and quietly hold them there.

But people grow when someone lets them. A fixed opinion becomes a cage they can't climb out of.

The kindest thing you can offer is a clean slate, more than once.

What if the person in front of you isn't the person in your memory?
