Do the thing you're avoiding

"Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration; the rest of us just get up and go to work." — Stephen King, On Writing

Tuesday, I reorganized my entire desk to avoid one phone call.

The desk looked great. The call still needed making.

Avoidance is sneaky. It disguises itself as productivity — cleaning, planning, "researching."

But I always know which task I'm dodging. There's a specific weight to it.

Here's what I've learned: the dread is almost always heavier than the task.

Do it first, badly, before the mind builds it into a monster.

This week, try doing your most-avoided task before 10 a.m. — before the excuses wake up.
