Protect the first hour

"How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives." — Annie Dillard, The Writing Life

Last week I gave my first hour to the inbox every single morning.

By noon I'd been busy for four hours and moved nothing that mattered.

The first hour sets the whole day's key. Start reactive, stay reactive.

So I moved the important thing to 7 a.m., before the world wakes up and starts making requests.

Same day. Wildly different results.

You don't find time for what matters. You defend it early, before anyone can claim it.

This week, try giving your first working hour to your most important work — not your loudest.
