Build the boring habit

Boring is the whole point.

"Habits are the compound interest of self-improvement." — James Clear, Atomic Habits

The habits that changed my life were never exciting.

Three that carried me:

  1. Ten minutes of planning before I touch the inbox.

  2. Water and a walk before caffeine.

  3. Lights out at a fixed time, deal or no deal.

None of these are impressive. That's exactly why they work.

Impressive is fragile. It needs motivation, an audience, a good day.

Boring just needs a Tuesday.

The unglamorous stuff compounds while you're not looking.

This week, try picking one boring habit and doing it badly, but daily.
